FAQ

The questions people actually ask

Answered plainly, and only where the product can be held to the answer. If yours is not here, ask — the address at the bottom is answered by a person.

Getting started

  • How long does it actually take to open a shop?

An afternoon, if your product photos are ready. The wizard is five screens — your shop name and link, how customers reach you, how you deliver, which of the seven designs you want, and then you are live. Most of the time goes on writing about what you sell, and the assistant will draft that from your photographs if you would rather it did.

  • Do I need a developer, or hosting?

Neither. Your shop is hosted for you at a link you can put in your bio the moment it exists. There is nothing to deploy, renew or keep patched.

  • Can I change the design later?

Yes, as often as you like, and nothing you have written is lost when you do. Your content is stored as a superset of what every design can render and narrowed when it is drawn — so switching to a design that shows fewer fields hides them rather than deleting them, and switching back brings them straight home.

Payments

  • Do you take a commission on my sales?

No — and not as an introductory rate. You connect your own Paystack, Flutterwave, Monnify or Stripe account with your own keys, so a customer’s payment settles into your account on your gateway’s schedule. We never hold the money, which means there is no mechanism by which we could take a share of it.

  • What does it cost, then?

You pay your gateway’s own transaction fees, which are theirs, are published, and would be identical if you had integrated that gateway yourself. Shopsy adds nothing on top of them.

  • How do you know a payment really happened?

Your gateway sends a webhook when a charge succeeds, and we verify it against the raw bytes of the request with a timing-safe comparison before anything moves. Duplicates are recorded and ignored. An order does not advance because somebody said it was paid.

  • Can a customer change the price at checkout?

No. Checkout sends a product and a quantity, nothing more — every line is priced from your own catalogue on our side, inside the same transaction that writes the order. A tampered request cannot buy anything cheaply.

Orders and delivery

  • How do I hear about a new order?

It appears in your dashboard, and it can reach you by email and on WhatsApp. The WhatsApp message carries the whole order written out, so you can act on it without opening anything.

  • How does my customer track their order?

With their order number and the email they used, on your own tracking page. No account, no app and no download. You move the order along and they watch it move.

  • What happens when an order is cancelled?

Everything it took comes back together — the stock, the promotion use and any booked appointment slot — in one transaction. All of it or none of it, never half. A refund returns the money but not the stock, because the goods are with the customer.

Your data

  • Do you track my customers?

No. Analytics stores a salted hash that is thrown away and regenerated every day, so nobody — including us — can join one visitor’s Monday to their Tuesday. The visits table has no column for an IP address at all. That is a decision in the schema, not a sentence in a policy.

  • Who owns what I put into my shop?

You do. Your photographs, your words, your prices and your customer list are yours, and closing your shop does not entitle us to any of it.

The platform

  • What is the AI assistant allowed to change?

It drafts titles, descriptions, categories and the details customers ask about, from the photographs you upload. It never touches your price or your stock, and everything it writes is a draft you edit before anybody sees it.

  • Is there a mobile app?

Not yet. The dashboard is built for a phone browser and is the same dashboard there as on a desktop, which covers what an app would — so we would rather ship one when it earns its place than ship a wrapper around a website.
